The 7th Annual Beijing Pond Hockey Tournament located in Gubei Water Town took place over two days in January overlooking the breathtaking scenery of The Great Wall of China.
Organized by CanLife Sports & Entertainment and supported by Powerplay Sports & Entertainment, this unique outdoor rink experience was a fun filled weekend with plenty of teams in fancy dress to go with an incredible environment to play hockey in.
A traditionally popular event, 16 teams from around Asia competed on the two outdoor rinks in a 4 on 4 shinny format where the teams were divided into four divisions. Each division consisting of four teams would play a round robin tournament, where the top team from each division would compete for the A Cup, the runners-up would compete for the B Cup, third place for the C Cup and fourth place for the D Cup.
HK Hitmen sent a team to the tournament consisting of players from Hong Kong, a player from Manila and a player from the USA where they managed to win the C Cup Championship.
Overall, it proved to be a fantastic experience for all those involved and next year’s iteration is already highly anticipated by hockey players across Asia.
