2021 Hot Pot Draft Tournament – Christmas Edition
Discovery Bay, HONG KONG – December 27th-30th, 2021
December saw the second edition of the Hot Pot Draft Tournament take place during the Christmas break, featuring Youth Divisions in the U7, U9, U11 and U13 categories.

An exciting 4 day tournament saw closely contested games, a great atmosphere created by the locals and traveling contingent, as well as plenty of firsts for the young stars: first goals, first assists, and first shutouts of their young careers. Excited parents were all around as the holiday break gave many an opportunity to take some time off to watch their young players in action.

Games at the new DB Rink saw full ice games for the U9 division and older, while the U7 division played 2 cross ice games simultaneously side by side for the first time.

The tournament also featured a skills competition for the U9, U11 and U13 divisions, where the kids got to showcase their skills as well as watch their coaches in action as they performed the demos for the 4 events: fastest skater, puck control relay, rapid fire and breakaway competition.

We would like to sincerely thank all those that participated and all the attendees, staff and sponsors for making the tournament a huge success. We look forward to hosting more Hot Pot tournaments in the future.

China Hockey Group Outlook Seminar
Discovery Bay, HONG KONG – December 30th, 2021
During the final day of the 2021 Hot Pot Tournament, the China Hockey Group hosted a hockey seminar to announce some exciting plans for the upcoming season. Plans for future events and ways to improve the hockey community within Hong Kong and Asia include:
  • The re-launch of the Greater Bay Hockey League (GBHL), with a targeted start date of October 2022. The inaugural season featuring cross border games was a big success but had to be stopped due to COVID.
  • The implementation of a Game Officials program to train and certify referees and game staff, improving the quality of officiating and setting up structure in which to qualify referees.
  • The formation of a GBHL All-Star team that would be eligible to participate around the region in high level tournaments to continue the development of our young stars.
2021 HKIHL – U12 Mini-Tournament
YMCA King’s Park, HONG KONG – December 19th, 2021
On Decemeber 19th, Powerplay Sports and Entertainment and the Hong Kong Inline Hockey League hosted a U12 inline hockey tournament, organised by the Hong Kong Federation of Roller Sports and sponsored by the China Hockey Group. The tournament took place at the YMCA in King’s Park roller rink.

The tournament featured four U12 teams: SWOT, Nucks Jr, Victoria RS and Large Wheel.

This tournament was held with the aim of giving our young players an opportunity to grow and develop, creating a solid foundation for the advancement of inline hockey in Hong Kong.

A highly competitive tournament with a fun atmosphere allowed the young players to showcase their skills and make new friends within the inline community. A talented young Nucks Jr team came out on top, winning the single day tournament in a close final.

A big thank you to everyone involved and all the sponsors associated with putting on another great inline tournament.
