|Greater Bay Inline Hockey League (GBIHL) Playoffs|
MACAU – 3rd+4th January, 2020
The first ever GBIHL playoffs took place in early January at the Macau roller rink with seedings determined during the regular season games played throughout 2019.
Top seeded Hong Kong swept #4 seed Foshan Shunde in the best of 3 semifinals which saw them advance to the finals. #2 seed Shenzhen also managed to beat #3 seed Macau in a 2 game sweep as they set the stage for a finals showdown with their neighbours.
The bronze medal game saw Macau beat Foshan Shunde before all eyes focused on the finals. The championship game did not disappoint, as Shenzhen and Hong Kong went back and forth in a nail biting game. It was Hong Kong that came out on top though with a 5-3 scoreline, taking home the silverware and going down in history as the first ever GBIHL champions.
A big thank you goes out to all the participating inline hockey federations involved in the league: Foshan Shunde, Macau, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Special thanks goes to sponsors Wheel Hub Asia. Plans are already underway for the 2020 GBIHL season. Hope to see you there.
Champions: Hong Kong
Runner Up: Shenzhen
Third Place: Macau
Fourth Place: Foshan Shunde
Playoff MVP: Scott Nichol (Hong Kong)
Best Defenseman: Yan Dong (Shenzhen)
Best Forward: Justin Yeung (Macau)
