2021-22 CIHL Champions – South China Sharks
Discovery Bay, HONG KONG – May 21st, 2022
The South China Sharks have won their first title since 2019 as they romped to a 5-0 victory over the Manulife Macau Aces in the CIHL Final. Sharks’ star goaltender Avery Gobbo shut out the Aces while usual suspects Jordan So and Ben MacAskill led the way in scoring.

Gobbo made 25 saves on the night and looked unbeatable as Aces counterpart Horrance Cheung was busy as he faced 50 shots, saving 45. Two goals from Jordan So and one apiece from MacAskill, Connor Daly and Alyssa Ho completed the 5-0 scoreline in a game that was more tightly contested than the scoreline indicates.

Congratulations to the South China Sharks organization on their deserved win. We look forward to more CIHL action in the 2022-23 season.

Discovery Bay, HONG KONG – June 2nd, 2022
The newly rebooted SCIHL Division 1 Final will be contested Thursday, June 2nd at 9:45 p.m. in Discovery Bay as HKBN face Manulife.

Both finalists swept their semi-final opposition to claim their place in the finals, with HKBN beating the RBC Lions 2 games to 0, while Manulife defeated Lake of the Woods by the same scoreline. Jon Szychta and his HKBN team look to be favourites for the SCIHL Div 1 crown, as they go into the finals having lost only once in a remarkable regular season and playoff run.

SCIHL Division 2 Final
Elements, HONG KONG – June 5th, 2022
The SCIHL Division 2 Final takes place at 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 5th at Elements ice rink and features a rematch of the 2019 final with Sam Wai taking on Sapporo.

Sam Wai have dominated proceedings this season, having won every game in their regular season as well as sweeping their semi-final series against Bravo 2 games to 0. Sam Wai goaltender Grant Phillips has looked unbeatable as of late, while big guns Francois Esterhuizen and Sean Tyrell have been getting points for fun. Sam Wai come in to the Finals as heavy favourites.

Sapporo have had things a little more difficult. After losing their Playoff Game 1 to AsiaExpat, they had to come back from a 3 goal deficit to win Game 2 before romping to a one sided victory in the deciding Game 3 of their series. Sapporo have never done things the easy way though, as their 2021 Championship team had to come from behind in every series and every playoff game to win their title last year.

Defending champions vs. overwhelming favourites, who will come out on top this year?
