EHL Spring Season Finals
Dragon Centre, HONG KONG – November 19th, 2020

The Empire Hockey League (EHL) concluded its spring season after multiple stoppages due to government restrictions throughout the year. Congratulations to champions Gaggia, who defeated Nyan Cats by a score of 10-5 in the final. Empire Panther finished with the 3rd place medal after defeating Empire Green in the 3/4th place playoff.

A great atmosphere was observed during the duration of the season, with games being played in a 3 on 3 format on Thursdays at the Skyrink in Dragon Centre. Always a fun league to play in, all levels of player are welcome. A new winter season looks to kick of in January 2021. For those interested please email for further details.

Father & Son Game
Dragon Centre, HONG KONG – November 12th 2020

A break in the EHL Season saw time for a friendly Father & Son game organised by Powerplay Sports & Entertainment and Empire Sports to celebrate local hockey hero Terence Chim’s birthday. 4 pairs of father and sons faced off against a team made up of  family friends in chance to show what biological chemistry can do on the ice.

The team of father and sons consisted of the Chims (Jim and Terence), the Leungs (Ken and Kenneth), the Chens (Mic and Ethan) and the Wongs (Jim and Michael). A great day and a great opportunity to for the families to play together, and a fitting way to celebrate Terence’s birthday. Thanks to all participants and staff that helped organise the event.

2020/21 SCIHL Update
Elements, HONG KONG – November, 2020

The SCIHL heads into a forced winter break due to COVID-19 restrictions 5 games into the season with China Hockey Group (CHG) leading the pack with an impressive 4-1 record. Lead by usual suspect and league superstar Michael Yoshino (22 points in 5 games), CHG look like the team to beat thus far. Newcomer Jeff Griffin has been a revelation, putting up 15 points (2nd in league scoring) as his Bravo team sit tied on points with InetAsia in the battle for second place. It’s still early days, but another closely contested SCIHL season looks to ensue as it looks like anybody can beat anybody, with all teams still locked into a tight playoff race.

The CIHL and its co-founder Greg Smyth were recently featured on local TVB news to address the current status of hockey in Hong Kong with regards to the COVID-19 pandemic.
